VirtualDub is a video capture/processing utility Windows platforms. VirtualDub is mainly geared toward processing AVI files, although it can read (not write) MPEG-1 and also handle sets of BMP images. Use VirtualDub to create stills of your film.
To create stills of your video:
Create a new folder titled 'Images'
Import video into VirtualDub (only .avi files)
File > Export > Image Sequence...
Filename: images
Filename suffix: .png (will change when you select output format)
Directory: select where you will save your images
Output format: .png

Once you have exported your Image Sequence:
Open the folder containing the images
Highlight/ select every second image
